Hello, 6th graders, welcome to a new year at PEAI!
Before we meet in person, I want to start with something exciting, creative, and traditional to my class.
AI & Creativity: Your First Experiment
You may have already heard of AI tools that can turn real photos into anime characters, game illustrations, or storybook art. Not long ago, many people believed creativity was something only humans could do. That idea is now being challenged, especially in fascinating ways.
Instead of just talking about AI, I want you to experience it firsthand.
Your First Assignment (Before Class)
You’ll submit one photo and five creative choices. I’ll use them to generate AI-rendered artwork of you.
Photo Requirements
A clear photo of yourself
No mask
One person only (two people max)
Face clearly visible
Five Creative Choices
Please think carefully, this is where your imagination matters.
(1) Style
What art style should the AI use? Examples:
Anime
Studio Ghibli
Disney / Pixar
Webtoon
Pixel art
Vintage comic
Game illustration
Claymation
Realistic
Impressionism
Etc.

You can see that my family photo can be rendered in different art styles. (2) Genre
What kind of world or story does this image belong to? Examples:
Fantasy
Sci-fi
Dystopian
Slice-of-life
Thriller
Gothic
Romance
Magical school
Futuristic
Daily life
Etc.
(3) Vibe (Mood)
What feeling should the image give? Examples:
Mysterious
Cheerful
Adventurous
Peaceful
Confident
Nostalgic
Gloomy
Energetic
Mischievous
Etc.
(4) Scenario
What are you doing in the image? Examples:
Reading a book
Sitting in a café
Gazing at the sky
Exploring ruins
Watching a movie
Training for battle
On a family trip
Relaxing at home
Etc.
(5) Strength (30%~70%)
This controls how much the AI changes your original photo.
30% → Very close to real life
50% → Balanced
70% → Bold, creative, experimental
Low strength = realism
High strength = imagination unleashed
To help you understand what "strength" means, take a look at this example of a photo I took with my wife. The strength ranges from 30% to 70%:

**You can see the lower strength yields more realistic versions, while higher strength allows the AI to make creative experimentations.
HOMEWORK:
HOW TO SUBMIT (IMPORTANT)
Email everything to: sampeai77@gmail.com (due before Day 1 of Week 2!)
Include:
Your full name (English)
Your photo (no mask)
Style
Genre
Vibe
Scenario
Strength (30~70%)
A Question Bigger Than Art
Before moving on, please take a moment to watch the 90-second video embedded above.
In a recent podcast, Mo Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer of Google X, shared a powerful idea: the future shaped by artificial intelligence is not predetermined.
A utopia is possible.
A dystopia is also possible.
This isn’t science fiction.
It’s a real projection from someone who worked at the heart of advanced AI systems.
💬 COMMENT QUESTION (REQUIRED)
In the comments section below this blog post, write a short response (4~6 sentences) to the question below. Scroll all the way down to find the comment section.
Also, please make sure your blog username matches your full English name!
You can do this by clicking your profile → Display info → Change Display name* Example: Sam Ahn (ST1)Based on how AI is developing today, which future do you personally expect: utopia or dystopia? Explain your answer.
I’m excited to meet you all very soon!
Mr. Sam
AI is coming toward our daily usages more rapidly than one can imagine. Many people may think the world will be a dystopia with robots taking over a lot of important things in the world and leave the humans to do the hard work. Even the expert says that you will lose your job to a robot. However, I strongly believe that if we learn how to control AI's power without overusing it, we may actually get benefited by their power. In addition, if people learned to keep themselves from getting addicted to machines like Chat-Gpt we will greatly prevent ourselves from getting ruled by inhumane robots. We would have a chance to think which would improve our brain t…
These days, AI is a very popular and common subject people talk about. There are people saying that AI will make a dystopian future, despite the fact that others say that AI will make a utopian future. AI is keep developing, making life better, but can that merit become a disadvantage? In my personal opinion, I think AI will make a dystopian future. AI makes living comfortable, but if we get too used to it, I’m sure people are going to be lazier and desert the duty to be working. If serious, it might become a situation like the movie Wall-E, which includes a part that people get lazier and robots(which are AIs) become rebels of people. People do say…
The imcome of AI only depends on how we use it to our advantage.
However, my opinion is that AI will create a dystopia.
This is because right now in the society of Korea many jobs are getting replaced by AI. This could lead to poverty for a lot of people with the jobs that got replaced.
AI is also being used as a a weapon to our privacy.
The AI surveillance system could constantly keep an eye on citizen's behavior and give the data to powerful entities. This will lead to a society where privacy is non-existent.
AI can also creat highly realistic photos of people to take over citizens trust as well.
This could lead to a society…
AI is not an illusion anymore. It is not sci-fi. It is real, and evolving. So the question is: will AI create a dystopia or utopia?
In my opinion, it is more likely that AI will create a utopia.
The dangers that AI seems to be implementing will effect the world in a way, but I believe that it will not bring too much chaos on the world.
AI solves our flaws and cons, benefiting the human-kind. AI can think things that normal people cannot do, solve problems worldwide, and take part in working in more hazardous jobs, such as builders. AI is more likely to not make mistakes in the working process, and because it is not a human…
I think AI would make a dystopia. This is because AI is taking over the world right now. Some jobs are being replaced by AI, and our ability to think will eventually disappear due to AI. If this happens, AI might take over and rule the world. We could utilize AI to benefit us, but the danger is more and more, people will become lazy and not use their brains as much. If you use and engage with AI correctly, people can educate themselves and become more intelligent. However, people have chosen convenience, rather than understanding the consequences. Children or young adults don’t think too much about long-term, and sometime only look for short-term rewards. Children will ask AI to…
